CuprinolExterior Wood Preservers - Golden Brown 5L

Looks good and makes a waterproof barrier
I must admit I wasn't sure how good this product would be as reviews are somewhat mixed. I wanted to coat my recently built summerhouse to protect the wood during the winter. I decided to put on two coats as advised although you can do three (if you have enough of course). You will need to decanter the product into a wider container to be able to use a brush. I used a 4 inch one which was ideal. Oddly it looks like muddy water before you brush it on, and it's quite thin but when dry produces a nice dark colour. It started drying after only 10 minutes or so but on a really warm day would no doubt be even quicker. I've noticed during rain it actually repels water so this is good stuff. For me it's done a good job but the real test will be how it performs during the winter. My brush took no time to wash clean under the tap and it doesn't smell much. Recommended.

The Best
I've used Cuprinol for years on fences and sheds and never had any of them even look like rotting. So when I bought a new shed, which I intend to turn into a small workshop, I bought Cuprinol. Its not the same name as the stuff I usually use but the price is about the same and the paint is too. Firstly its very thin and looks more like muddy water than something that will preserve wood. You will need to give your wood more than one coat. I've now given my new shed 3 coats and the recent heavy rain just ran off as if the shed were covered in oil. It is however water based so there is no oil involved. And I've still not used more than half the can. The colour comes as it dries and is a really nice green. Don't let the price put you off because in this case you really do get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Totally not what the label says
Not going to rate it as black obviously does mean black .... no matter how much you shake and stir the product it still stays grey

Painting with water colours!
Difficult to pay£30 for something that looks and feels like water when you are putting it on! No matter what polymers are in it it still looks like water colour. I am not a chemist but the protection from this must come by sealing the top surface not by penetrating it. I went to Sydenhams and bought a spirit based product to finish the job. Disappointing it used to be the bench mark in this area.

Great for sheds, fences and pergolas.
Initially I thought it looked like emulsified oil. It was very different from the Cuprinol I had purchased many years ago but applying it to a piece of timber it dried to an excellent shade as before. Although I had to apply to coats to get it to the shade that I wished it worked out very well. Only time will tell how good it really is but I have every confidence that it will be as good as that bought many years ago. Great. Well done

Preserve your fences
Cuprinol wood preserver is easy to apply as it is virtually like water. It covers well and leaves wood looking good and protects well. Have to complain about the lid of the container though. It is difficult to open and even more difficult to pour contents into a smaller container. Found it wasted a lot. That is just my complaint and it should not detract from the actual product quality.

Easy to use Fence protection
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Does what he says on the tin. I like the fact its environmentally friendly. I can't comment on durability yet as I have only used it for a few weeks so far. Seems to do what it says on the tin so far.
