Q: anyone know its country of origin

I bought this for my wife who uses it every day to carry her equipment for work. She says she loves it and takes it everywhere she goes, so I would say it is a very good product. However, I don't know where its made, but it was done very well.

Q: Is this an adult size backpack

Yes, it is. Not the biggest one you'll find, but definitely not a child size or purse sized back pack. My 8th grader carried all her textbooks back and forth no problem and it held up really well.

Q: Does anyone know what the plug thing is for?

It looks like an external USB charger.
