Statham delivers a funny and serious action disturbance filled mess. This movie had me laughing and shaking my head to gross essence at the same time.

This, along with "The Transporter" is my favorite Jason Statham movie and just a great showcase for Jason to show off his action---and his comedy---chops!The plot is actually similar to the noir classic "D.O.A." Statham, as Chev Chelios, a super-bad hit man for an LA drug operation, is targeted for elimination by his own boss after a botched hit. Verona, a punk and enemy of Chev is dispatched to knock out Chev and dose him with a slow acting poison that will kill Chev within 24 unless he keeps his adrenaline level as high as possible. This premise turns the resulting movie and revenge quest into a live-action video game that every adrenaline junkie should love!!Once Chev learns of Verona's treachery via a "gay James Bond tape" death-message DVD that Verona leaves for him, Chev pursues Verona through the LA criminal underground and Chev is hell-bent for revenge. It's 90 minutes of every type of inappropriate behavior that you can name---violence, property destruction, and of course, "sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll!!" Crank gives you more action than you can handle with a drive away escape through a shopping mall, hitting up a hospital for more adrenaline, making love in Chinatown before an admiring crowd of Chinese high school girls (who describe Chev to t.v. reporters as "so cute! Magnum-sized!!), all the while slowly eliminating the criminal "small fish" and heading towards a final confrontation with Verona and Chev's traitorous former boss---which unfolds in a helicopter finale over downtown LA that's just incredible.I have often called "Crank" the perfect adult live-action cartoon for the American male. Though it's violent, the action is so stylized and is so frequently off-set by Chev's wise cracks and interplay with the supporting cast, that it never comes across as gory or just gratuitous. And the supporting cast are what really make this film. Here's Jason as the macho hit man, but he's backed up by his gay Hispanic "gal Friday" Kaylo; beautiful dumb-blonde heart-of-gold girl friend Eve; loyal black gang leader Orlando; and of course Doc Miles, Chev's MD lifeline as he tries to battle the poison. Kudos to all the supporting cast, their performances are what really elevate "Crank" from a routine action thriller to a maniacal action-comedy classic!!If you haven't see a Statham movie, or if you're loving for an action picture that's also a comdey and a cut above the normal genre fare, by all means give Crank a view!!

Crazy good times with lots of humor and action. Not for the faint of heart and spirit. Enjoy your life and check it out! I LOVE IT!

A pretty lively action movie with lots of shooting, sex and craziness, but it keeps you entertained. Very different than most movies shown. They made a follow up to this one as well. Great fun if this is your kind of thing. Buy !

Generally I was a little skeptical whether I would enjoy this movie. Most of the reviews I have seen comment on the picture quality. For me that is a selling point but not enough for me to spend over $20 on a movie for. So after purchasing several other titles I decided to finally cave and purchase this movie. I can now say it is one of the best Blu-ray titles I have viewed so far. Not just based on picture quality but overall this is a great action movie.From the first minute you realize the pace this movie will be moving at. Obviously this movie is not intended for people who enjoy slow paced story driven movies. Although the story line is very good for an action movie it does not bog down the pace. The movie is very well casted and the acting is actually quite good. Now this movie is not intended for children. As I know that many parents don't mind showing action movies to their children. Their is excessive foul language and nudity. Although this version has a family friendly version I just don't think even toned down it would still be good for children.One thing that makes this movie stand out is the comedey. That's right not only do you get non-stop action but you also get a good dose of comedy. Some of the situational comedy had me laughing out right loud. That is what made go from liking this movie to loving it.This movie also looks great on Blu-ray and makes a good showcase film for those starting a collection. Overall I would say this is a great film for just about anyone who owns a Blu-ray player. The action is polished and the comedy is good. This definately makes owning a Blu-ray player all the more worthwhile.

Many of the older movies do not translate well to 4K, but this is very good. Bright colors, sound is very good. Same story.

Crank says it all. All pumped up. Our favorite star gets drugged/poisoned and the only way he stays alive is to keep moving very fast. That way adrenaline must continue pumping throughout his veins Crazy fast moving action and I would assume doesn't stop and I'm only 20 minutes into the movie. Very cool!

I really can't say a lot about this movie, other than that. The movie is basically a roller-coaster ride. It starts out fast, continues fast, tries to throw drama in along the way, and finishes fast.Chev Chelios is a hitman, and he was just killed. That provides most of the humor in the movie. There is a little humor when he "changes" personalities when he is around his girlfriend, or talking to her.The plotline is both loose and tangled up. There is no mystery about who killed Chev, but there is an aspect that indicates he didn't act on his own, but no clues are presented and the answer is given at the end.The ending makes little sense, but as I said, it's a roller coaster ride. I like the way one poster called her review Kill Bill meets Speed. I sort of agree, but both of those had a better, and more fluid, plot.Overall, if you like grindhouse theatre, this movie is for you. If you love non-stop action, this is a pretty good movie. In those cases you'll like it, possibly even love it.If you actually want a story, don't bother with Crank, you'll be disappointed.

Even if few things in this film make any sense, I simply can't rate it less than five stars, because I had sooooo much fun watching it...)))))))) Below, more of my impressions, with some SPOILERS.Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) is a hit man who one day wakes up and realises that he was injected with "Beijing Coctail", a deadly poison which is very quickly killing him - in fact he has only minutes left to live! There remains however one chance for him to survive - as long as he manages to keep his adrenaline level very high, the poisoning doesn't progress and therefore he may have a chance to find an antidote. But if he lets his adrenaline level drop to a regular level, he is dead meat...What follows is 90 minutes of a tough guy running through the city, frequently half naked, with a raging erection poorly hidden from the public view. During this time he will get into an incredible number of fights and incidents, kill numerous bad guys, frighten countless women, snort coke, pilfer hospital supplies, cause vehicle accidents, commit robberies, start fires, abuse a defibrilator, horribly insult ethnic and sexual minorities, have VERY public sex with Amy Smart, hold surrealistic phone conversations with his doctor, confront Triads, LAPD, nuns, street gangs, Japanese tourists, etc., all to the appropriately fast paced rhytm of an AMAZING soundtrack!WARNING: the kind of humour displayed in this film will probably mostly appeal to men... Also, the amount of verbal obscenities is such that some DVD players may not support it...)))I am the first to admit that this whole film is just a surrealistic exercise in accelerated nonsense - but GOSH, DID I HAVE GOOD TIME WATCHING IT! If you feel a little bit down, get some beer and this film and just start watching - no matter how bad you feel before, this film WILL cheer you up! Enjoy!

I bought this Blu-ray because i liked the film on DVD and just wanted to see it in all its glory. It looks to be a loose remake of the old film-noir D.O.A. Dead on Arrival but with a lot more action and stunts. It's all hokum of course - but enjoyable hokum.

Much clearer and sharper picture quality in 4k and the film is an absolute classic 5 stars

Great to watch this film again.
