Muzzy XD Bowfishing Reel

Package came very fast, even a day before schedule.Setting up my bow with this package was quite simple. The only step that took any time at all was removing the mono and spooling the fast-flight line that came with it onto the reel. The line was somewhat twisted on the cardboard spool, so be sure to take your time putting it on the reel to make sure its not terribly twisted.Took the bow out today, one day after arriving, and shot 2 carp in about 15min. This was my first time ever bowfishing, so yes this kit is quite good for beginners or otherwise and has everything you need other than the bow.

I've seen other people purchase this reel over the AMS reel and thought I'd do the same. I HATE having to hold the "trigger" on the AMS so I thought the muzzy would be the better choice. Let me remind you, I HATE the AMS retriever. I would take the AMS over the Muzzy. The AMS can take a beating. It's not the easiest retriever to use, but it's solid and it doesn't break. The Muzzy I got broke within the first hour of shooting. A large carp ran after being hit. Upon attempting to reel it in, the little PLASTIC tab that wraps the line around the spool snapped. Why would you make some that's knowingly going to be under stress, plastic? I could be being too hard on them. Maybe I got a bad one or something. I'll be trying the new hybrid retriever. Somebody has to get one right eventually.

i wanted to update this review. it came before christmas and it was a gift for my son. it came not complete. i wrapped it and gave it to him anyway and then told him after i opened it that i had to return it. wasn't to happy.....but when i contacted them they sent me one out that day and had the other picked up after i got the new one. this only took a few days. very happy. great to deal with someone who really puts the customer first. amazon did me right once again. love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

My hubby absolutely loved this gift! It fit wonderfully on is Browning 20+ year old compound bow and all he is waiting on is for the weather to get above freezing to go to the lake. l

The reel is not as good as I think it should be but for the price this is a good kit. The reel can only hold about 85' of the 100' provided.

Before i bought this i had been shooting an AMS retreaver. There was nothing wrong with it but i will definetly use the muzzy spinner setup from now on. The muzzy is fast to shoot and re-setup for your next shot, perfect for bowfishing. This kit has everything you need to start shooting fish. I love it.

Mounted this on one of my old bows and it works great.

Everything works great my only complaint is the muzzy reel. I only shot it maybe 20 time and the screw holding the reel crank backed out and is now in the lake somewhere. Besides that everything worked as advertised.

Used this a lot over past two years.
