Neat drum for grandkids
I used this plan to make five tongue drums for the grandkids. They liked them, I liked them. It was a fun project. Some suggestions... (1) the "hammers" or drumsticks made using dowels and rubber balls work great, but make the dowells go almost all of the way through the balls or the balls may (did) come off in the hands of a child. (2) purchase several extra jigsaw blades if you are using hard tropical wood for the tops... and go real slow... take your time. (3) I found it easier and more aesthetically pleaseing to put a little wriggle in the edges of the tongues rather than trying to keep them exactly straight.
