My son suffered a horrible skin reaction that can only be described as a chemical burn. His skin is still healing from the damage caused by this soap. The skin on the back of the neck, shoulders and inside his arms was all effected. The skin was very irritated and hurt to the touch. The skin slowly turned black and began to peel. The skin on the inside of his arms is still healing. I do not recommend this soap for anyone. I don't have sensitive skin like my son and when me and my 17 year old daughter washed our face with it, our face began to sting. My son used the soap only twice and he had a horrible reaction.

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST If you are debating/ nervous about whether or not to get this, based on a few negative reviews: I did a little bit of research before I purchased this. I've used commercial black soap like Nubian Heritage and Shea Moisture for many years, and finally decided to try the real thing. This is the best deal on Amazon for raw black soap, the ingredients are what they should be, and the shipping was fast. Raw black soap should not be rubbed directly on the skin in bar form. It contains rough bits from the pods, and can tear or scratch skin. What you should do is tear of a small piece and form it into a mini bar. Use a washcloth,shower mesh sponge, or your hands to wash yourself. You can also look up videos on YouTube o how to make a liquid wash. Basically you dissolve a small amount into distilled water, and put into a bottle to use as face wash or body wash. For storage, store what remains in plastic wrap or a Ziploc bag in a cool dry place, or freeze it. If you have a small bar in your shower, ALWAYS keep it out of the direct stream of water. This will keep it from melting away quickly, as with any bar soap. Get a wooden soap dish with slats or a plastic one with raised nubs, so it can thoroughly dry after using. If you see a white film after using, don't worry, this is natural and it is NOT mold. I used this on my face and body yesterday, after I received it, and WOW! It left my oily skin squeaky clean, like I've never felt before. My skin on my chest and back felt so clean too, but not dry and tight. I used a toner after, and for the first time in my life, there was NO dirt or oil left behind on my cotton pad! This soap is a miracle! It's going to be great for hot, sweaty, oily, summer days. Nothing will leave you this clean. It also removes stubborn antiperspirant/deodorant with ease, without tons of scrubbing. I've never had a cleaner bath/shower experience. I used it again this morning, and noticed the breakout I had on my shoulder has vanished overnight. I'm floored. I also suffer from monthly hormonal acne on my face, and woke up clear today. My husband really enjoyed it too. It leathers up so richly, it has a soft earthy, slightly salty scent if you smell the bar itself, but is fragrance free and leaves behind only the scent of perfectly clean skin. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. I think with the right info, and instruction, this is pure gold.

I am astounded as to why some reviewers chose to use this RAW product in its bar form. This is not some junky product that you can buy in Target or Walmart. You would be best-served if you liquefy the bar (what you need then freeze the rest), FILTER the liquid (using cheesecloth AND a metal strainer) then, and only then, should you apply it to the skin. The double filtering will completely remove the abrasive substances like bark and rocks often found in authentic handmade products like this one. Again, do NOT use this soap in its bar form! Once you understand this, you WILL see amazing results!

I was taking a shower and used the soap to wash my face and all of a sudden my finger and hand started bleeding. Same thing happened to my friend but to her hands and face and found a piece of GLASS in the soap. GLASS??? What is glass doing in the soap... ???

I'm a big fan of all natural, chemical free, NON-GMO, no animal by products, as well pleasant scent/smell. This soap has IS everything I've listed above + more. I ordered this soap February 27th.. It arrived on time. It came in a ziplock bag as a 1lb block of soap. It doesn't look like the perfectly cut giant corporation manufactured methyl, ethyl fake soaps found at your local Walgreen's. It didn't come with the same ol same ol California label "this product is known in the state of California to have ingredients to cause cancer". Anyways, I made it into a liquid soap, as it is too "raw" to use in natural form. Using boiled distilled &/or spring water. I cut off an inch wide chunk then grated it down to shreds. Using a glass bowl, I poured the water over the soap, stirred with a clean wooden spoon til it completely melted. Then added 1 tbsp Shea butter, 1 tbsp olive oil, 5-7 drops of peppermint oil, + 1 tbsp of Jamaican black castor oil. I store it in 4 (4 oz) clean bottles then refrigerate it to keep it fresh. Between me & my daughter 1 batch lasts about a 2-3 weeks. D.O.U... I took some to work & my coworkers said it was very soft to touch & smelled very nice. My skin is softer than ever before, my hands aren't dried out & cracked. The skin on my face feels & looks younger. I'm 45, I've always looked young with bad pores. After using the African black soap, the pores are smaller. I am very satisfied with the soap. .. African Black Soap should NOT be used as a regular bar soap. Again DO NOT USE REAL RAW AFRICAN BLACK SOAP AS BAR SOAP.. Take a few minutes to make it n2 a liquid soap, you won't regret it

Great soap, except when around 90% gone, a string, or some sinewy like thing surfaced. About 4 inches long with clumps attached. Not so sure I will purchase this brand again.

I have bought this soap after watching it on many youtube videos (Too many if you ask me) and Pinterest boards. Many youtubers were recommending it. So, basically I was peer-pressured to buy it. Before buying I searched types. To buy this, or liquid one or the shea moisture one. In the end this won, coz mainly this was cheap compared to those two. Anyway my bacne is less now. Would buy it again.

I have been using this soap for two weeks, and I have to say the texture of my skin has improved. It can be drying in the beginning, and I did have a few white heads during the purging period (2 days for me). The scars/blemishes from the white heads did go away super quickly though like other reviewers claim. And the soap lasts. I have also started using the soap as my shampoo and body wash, which makes me feel squeaky clean.

I love this! I'very only been using it for a couple days and the texture of my skin is already softer,and my bumps are going down. I hope it really hope it clears up my dark spots i'll wait a couple weeks and write an update.

This stuff is so good for your skin. Clears up little acne spots and helps with acne scarring in about a weeks time if you use it twice a day. It's very drying to the skin however, make sure you have a moisturizer you can use twice a day (I suggest oil free). For the amount of this product the price is really good, because you only need about a pea sized piece to wash your face.

I's different than the one i bought previously, well spent money and fast delivery.I made my own shampoo and use it as soap for my daughter sensitive skin as well. No complaints whatsoever. Thanks
