Possum
I'm not really sure what to say about this. It lingered with me a while after watching, so I felt obligated to leave a review. I had actually been meaning to watch it for quite some time, since the initial promotional image came out, because I found the image really intriguing. It both is and isn't representative of what the movie feels like as a whole. Definitely an odd film.Starts off very slow, quiet, wanders a lot. Initially, I kept watching because I was waiting for something to happen. Then I was confused and kept watching to see where it was all going. It's definitely not fast-paced but it builds a feeling of hopeless dread pretty effectively. Rather unpleasant, but I think that's what it was aiming for. It feels a lot like a weird dream.I was expecting the puppet to be pretty silly, but it's actually used quite effectively. Its design is unique. I don't want to say too much about it because I think this movie is best experienced without a lot of expectation going in, but don't expect it to be flashy or direct horror. It's creepy and emotional and it builds excruciatingly slowly. I would recommend watching it alone in a quiet room.I will say I found the ending to be predictable, but I doubted just enough as the film went along that I found it acceptable, anyway. It's a bit of a downer. I can't fault the movie too much for inciting that kind of emotion though because I think that's what it was going for. Either way, I don't regret watching it, and would probably recommend it if it sounds intriguing to you.

Horror and suspense from out of left field
First off, I understand the 3 star rating, I don't believe this movie is for every horror/suspense fan out there. Saying that, if you're displeased with modern day horror movies using jump scares and out of balance audio to make you turn your volume up to 100 to hear their whispering conversations just to have your ears blasted out your a** in horror scenes, you will find this movie very refreshing. It does not rely on sensory overload to put you at unease, instead its a slow confusing crawl that slithers up your spine and fills you with a sense of dread. Ive heard movies of this quality described as "ArtHouse" movies and I can agree this movie requires a great deal of interpretation and almost warrants multiple screenings just to get the full scope of the experience this movie offers. Sean Harris did an amazing job with this character, fully embodying a confused and damaged child grown older seeking to reconcile his troubled childhood and, quite literally, discard old baggage weighing down his every step. The "monster" in this movie is so original and freaky I'd put it in a different category to anything else I've seen previous. I hope to see more from this director in the future and feel very comfortable giving this film 5 stars.

Disturbing with a touch of Eraser head
It can be a long haul for some, but keep watching. The music is chilling and acting is great. The scenes of doom and paranoia will have you on the edge of your seat. Most of you will figure it out at the end, it's heart breaking.

Grasping at straws, Really blurred the thin line between abstract art and meaningless garbage
Its free, and if there was a watchable movie in this whole thing it would be in the main character's acting.I get its very hip these days to make plotless horror/psychological thrillers relying only on the viewers ability to create the story ie. Lighthouse but this was embarrassingly bad just to watch. Sexual abuse is a great concept for a horror movie except there was none, of all the things to do a puppet horror movie, I can only imagine its difficult to make one this bad. not scary at all, if anything it put me right to sleep. And dont think I didnt understand it or enjoy the cinematography because I love the greyness of England and the footage could have been really haunting if there was literally a singular moving aspect of this whole movie. A grown man crying for 90 minutes isnt really good enough to make a film stand out anymore. If you think you understood this movie on a deeper level, we definitely would not be friends because you need to have your head so far up your own arse to apply any form of meaning to this garbage.Save yourself some time and go on youtube or something and just watch 10 minutes of creepy puppets and youll get way more than I did out of this whole thing. Had AMAZING potential, BUT TRULY CANT IMAGINE HOW A SPIDER PUPPET MOVIE WENT SO HORRIBLY WRONG.

So underrated
I love this movie. This is for those who like more artistically directed films. I think the reason many people may dislike the movie, is because of one simple thing: they don't understand it. This horror film somehow manages to both pinpoint and isolate a very specific feeling that comes with childhood trauma. People who are unfamiliar with this feeling may miss the meat of it and end up disliking the movie. The lead actor is great for the role, and the whole film design managed to perfectly tuck you under a blanket of discomfort, unease, and eerie tension. A grimey feel since the very beginning, you will enjoy this if you like movies that find a way to portray specific, unwanted, real-world feelings. I haven't found a movie to date that has isolated that feeling from childhood trauma so well.

A half Cocked Horror flick
Sean Harris puts forth a disturbing and elevating performance, but the film is more an annoyance than anything else. I recently watched a a movie well over three hours and it felt like an hour. This feature is well UNDER 90 minutes and was a total slog. There were things to like besides the leading man. It's shot effectively and the tension slowly builds, but there isn't a payoff that is representative of what the film is trying to be. First-time writer and director Matthew Holness is hoping you have a visceral experience and for a while he manages to do that, but I just left unsatisfied. If you're not into this in 20 minutes, you won't change your mind despite a decent final couple scenes.

Really artsy cool movie
As I'm german it was a bit hard to understand the accent the actors have but all in all I think it's a really great movie if u like artsy horror movies.

Possibly the creepiest film ever made
Excellent acting, wondrous photography, mysterious symbolism, and exquisite creepiness all over. I normally prefer supernatural horrors but this one is a masterpiece.
