Carl Helvie, R.N., Dr.P.H., St. Lawrence, School of Nursing (Ogdensberg, New York), nationally certified registered nurse, 1954, Dr., P.H., University of California, San Francisco, 1961. He received a master’s in public health in 1966, and a doctorate in public health, 1969, both from Johns Hopkins University. With 60 years experience as a nurse practitioner, and researcher for Monroe County Hospital, Rochester, New York and V.A. Hospital in San Francisco. He was head nurse at Bellevue Hospital, New York, and public health nurse for both Oakland and San Francisco county health departments. He also held teaching positions at UC San Francisco, Duke, Old Dominion, and University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, Germany. He has published 8 books, chapters in 4 others, and more than 100 articles presented internationally. Since July, 2008, he has hosted the Holistic Health Show on BBS Radio Network (www.BBSRadio.com), broadcasting every other Saturday (12 noon PST) on natural and integrative interventions, with topics including arthritis, diabetes, seasonal allergies and cancer. His guests include integrative physicians, homeopaths and Naturopaths, and others.
